I am a British Academy Award-winning animation director, animator, author, educator and consultant. I am technically retired from full time production but am always keen to consider occasional 2D animation projects that still provide a challenge. At the start of my career, I studied advanced animation techniques with some of the finest masters of 2D animation. Specifically: Ken Harris, Art Babbit and Richard Williams. I have taught 2D animation at the highest level in the Pacific Northwest for almost two decades and currently run my own "2D Academy" course in Bellevue. In March 2015 I established the online ‘Animator’s Sketchclub’ – where I set an animation-related drawing or animation challenge at the beginning of each month and and publish the winner's work at the end of the month. My current dream is to see a return of ground-breaking, innovative traditional animated movie production in the USA and have developed several projects with that in mind. My best-selling animation textbooks include: "The Animator's Workbook"; "Animation from Pencils to Pixels ~ Classical Techniques for Digital Animators"; "How To Make Animated Films", "Jumping Through Hoops: The Animation Job Coach", "The Animator's Notebook" and "The Animator's Sketchbook". To date I have created over 200 TV commercials, 2 TV Specials, several short films and was responsible for the title sequence of "The Pink Panther Strikes Again" movie early in my career. For the past two and a half years I have also worked as a professional astrologer - not to do predictions of fortune-telling, which I do not believe in - but to help mentor clients in terms of self-understanding and better life management. (As I was helped at the beginning of my career by an amazing master herbalist/astrologer - transforming my life in the process!)
